Rows of spindles in the textile workshop are not only the most iconic objects of the textile factory, but also the collective memories of generations of textile workers. We explore a new interpretation of the revolving spindles by using spindle-shaped wind-driven kinetic scales, which evokes memories and inspires new imagination. 
The skin system is composed of wind-driven metal scales, a hexagonal vertical frame, and ring lateral fastening structure. When the breeze blows over the tower, the metal scales spin with the wind, and the entire facade looks like undulating silk and the rippling water of Nanhu Lake. The spinning sound brings people back to the memories of textile factory. Lit by LED lights embedded in the framework, the water tower is dressed up, complementing the night scenery of Nanhu Lake. 
Internally, the original water tank and pipes in the tower could be converted into rainwater collection devices for landscape irrigation, a reverse water usage from extracting groundwater up in the past to supply water down to the community in the more sustainable future.

纺织车间中鳞次栉比的纱锭，既是纺织厂最为标志性的物件，也是几代纺织工人的集体回忆。我们的设计通过纺锤状的风动鳞片，对“转动的纱锭”这一意向进行新的演绎，唤起记忆，也激发起新的联想。
表皮系统由风动鳞片单元、六边形竖向框架以及圈形横向锚固结构组成。当清风拂过塔身，金属鳞片随风转动，整个立面似飘动的绸缎，也如南湖荡漾的水面。莎莎的转动声又依稀将人们带回到生产中的纺织车间。夜间框架内的LED灯亮起，水塔成为南湖夜色中的新亮点。
在内部功能上，利用塔身内原有水箱和管道，改造成雨水收集装置，用作植物浇灌。从过去抽取地下水源向社区供水，转变为以可持续的方式反哺自然。
